Our Story
Darrel Davis worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for over 30 years holding positions as Engine Product Analyst, Eastern Division Field Service Coordinator, and Engine Division Regional Manager. In 1984 he began developing the Applied Failure Analysis curriculum for CAT. For the last 20 years of his career working for the manufacturer, Darrel would teach, consult, and refine yet again the AFA program to a point where it was utilized by Caterpillar dealers worldwide.
Darrel retired in 2002 and began developing his own failure analysis classes refining them yet again and launched his own company FAS, Inc. Darrel’s vision was to create an affordable, on-site training program that could be delivered to dealers and customers across the USA and abroad. Since Darrel’s passing in 2012 the company has been taken over by its current President, Jim Dettore, a Caterpillar Dealer veteran with the skills and knowledge necessary to continue Darrel’s vision. Jim and his wife Maria continue to work hard delivering Failure Analysis training to hundreds of students each year while striving to continuously improve FAS course offerings.
